If so, this training offer from Dorset Council could help them onto a Social Care Career.

Dorset Council have a number of new training opportunities that they are considering investing in to help support people who might be interested in setting up as a self-employed / small business working in the social care sector. This is also applicable to anyone who might consider a career in social care including working for a home care company or in a care home. The intention is to create a stronger local workforce across the county of people who can provide local care to local people for all kinds of service – from personal assistants to home helps to wider wellbeing services.

The Council would like to know what level of interest there might be in taking up these training offers. If you know of anyone who might be interested in participating or knowing more about the offer, please contact the email address given below.

The timescales for replies are short (end of this week – 19th February 2021) but they’d like to gauge interest to start with.

Here are some of the training options that are being considered: Mental Capacity Act training for staff in the Independent, Voluntary and Private Sector Moving and handling Essential skills for safeguarding adults – Dorset Council 3-day strengths based training Infection Prevention and Control of COVID-19 when working with the Public Dementia Awareness Tier 2 Intermediate Principles of positive behaviour support Care Certificate Medication Administration They would like to get a sense of whether there’s enough interest to set these opportunities up.
