Women make up 51% of the UK population, yet remain underrepresented in healthcare research.
Historically, most medical studies focused on men — meaning doctors don’t always recognise how illnesses affect women differently. This can lead to serious problems with diagnosis and care. 💔
👉 In 2022, many women in England said they didn’t feel listened to by healthcare professionals.
👉 Some said their pain was dismissed or worries ignored.
👉 Others felt unsafe speaking up when something didn’t feel right.
A new project through the University of Staffordshire, Women’s Inequality & Safety Enhancement, is exploring what happens when care goes wrong in hospitals — and whether women experience this differently from men.
They want to listen to women’s voices and stories to create training tools for doctors and nurses to help make healthcare safer and fairer for all women.
If you have a story of your time in hospital or with a health practitioner, they want to hear your story. Register by clicking here.
