Inspector Greg Tansill is setting up a scrutiny panel for members of the public to have a look at some of the searches we are doing

The role would involve the following –

• Members of the panel would be asked to meet once a month and review a sample of BWV clips of searches
• They would be asked to grade the searches on a number of criteria, such as fairness, respect, dignity
• The aim is provide external scrutiny to stop search
• Results would be fed directly back to commanders and officers and used to praise / develop staff
• Sessions would be once a month and would be done via Zoom / Teams
• They would last no more than 2 hours
• Prior to the sessions, member of the panel would be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and also complete a vetting form
