TRUSTEE LEAD: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND ENGAGEMENT

Dr Omowonuola (Wonu) Okunnu is a researcher, educator, career adviser, and community leader focused on identity, belonging, and inclusive public policy. She is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow in the Faculty of Media, Science and Technology at Bournemouth University. Her research includes projects on digital engagement among Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities and gender, supported by multiple grants.

Alongside her academic work, Wonu is committed to advancing equality and community empowerment. She serves as Lead for Community Development and Engagement and Trustee of Dorset Race Equality Council, working to strengthen community voice and address racial inequalities. She is also a Trustee of Dorset Equality Council and Chairperson of the W²O Foundation, supporting initiatives that promote equity and representation.
