Important message from the Home Office:

“There have been reports in the media regarding plans to end freedom of movement after the UK leaves the EU, as well as what this means for EEA and Swiss citizens resident in the UK.

We want to offer reassurance that EEA and Swiss citizens will have the absolute certainty of the right to live and remain here. Please be advised that as long as EEA and Swiss citizens, and their family members, are resident in the UK before 31 October 2019, they will still have until 31 December 2020 to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, even in the event of a no-deal exit.

We would appreciate your continued support in sharing details about the Scheme with your citizens and wider network to amplify this message.

Following last week’s announcement confirming one million citizens have been granted status under the Scheme, please click here to download resources for you to use to share this message (this link will expire in 7 days). The resources include:

• 1 million image – to promote the 1 million announcement. This has also been translated into Bulgarian, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish.
• Video – short animation to emphasise that the EUSS deadline hasn’t changed.

When posting these assets, we suggest that your posts emphasise that the EUSS deadline hasn’t changed, for example:

EU citizens and their families have until December 2020 to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme. Join the one million who have already applied and been granted status. Apply now: www.gov.uk/apply-eu-settled-status

Further details for you can be also be found in our free movement factsheet on GOV.UK.”
