Introducing the NEW Bourne Digital 12-week online Digital Confidence-Building course!
Includes laptop and mobile data loan for the duration of the programme
Since the onset of Covid-19, the Bourne Digital team, along with many others in the country, have had to re-think the way we work with and support our clients. Initially the Bourne Digital Project was set up to help those with little or no digital skills, based in Bournemouth, via face to face meetings in public libraries or similar.
We are still very much committed to helping those with a lack of digital skills, now more than ever considering the current position we all find ourselves in. However, by necessity, the training will be delivered in a slightly different format.
Introducing our new 12-week online Digital Confidence-Building course.
Our first course starts at the beginning of August and there will be a further 11 online weekly sessions for that group. Group sizes will be kept small between 6-8 people, with new groups starting a 12-week course every month until February 2021.
Each individual online session will include a different topic, beginning with the very the basics of getting to know your computer, mouse, and keyboard; working up to how to use email, create Word documents and much more. You will also be supported throughout your learning journey by our knowledgeable Digital Champions.
In the first instance the course is open to those without laptops/desktops and no home Wi-Fi, however there will be a limited number of places for those who have suitable devices and Wi-Fi at home.
If you do not own a laptop/desktop you will be loaned a laptop for the duration of the 12-week course, with enough online data to see you through the course. Those accepted onto the course will have a full induction and be shown how to use the laptop, to get you started.
Who is the course for?
In summary, if you have no or very low digital skills and no digital device at home, we would like to hear from you. You must be 19+, live in Bournemouth (BH1 –BH11) to qualify, unemployed, and looking for work or underemployed and have the right to live and work in the UK.
Before you are accepted on the course you will also be asked to take part in a phone assessment, to gauge your suitability for the course.
