Africans came to Britain before British came to Africa. North Africans aka. “division of Moors”, were protecting the Hadrian wall in the 3rd century AD. The African soldiers of Roman army inhabited southern part of island for about three and a half centuries.

The first well documented person of sub-Saharan origin in Britain is the Beachy Head Lady. Her remains were dated to 200-250AD (2-3rd century). You can find out more about her here:
