Weymouth Multicultural Meet Up – Summer Fun at Chapelhay Community Garden

Join us for fun and games, arts & crafts, bouncy castle, food from around the world, biscuit decorating and who knows what else?
Bring food and drink to share. Everything free as always.

A great opportunity for local residents from diverse backgrounds to come together to share experiences, to breakdown isolation, to support each other and celebrate our global heritage!

This time its also all about SAVING THIS COMMUNITY PROJECT – CHAPELHAY COMMUNITY PLAYGARDEN.
Please read Clare Sutton’s, Chair of Chapelhay Community Playground appeal:

“Dear Friends
My mum, sisters and I moved into the flats overlooking the playground in 1982. It should have been a haven for local kids but was run down and neglected. When I moved back to Weymouth in 2005, nothing much had changed. Working with fantastic local residents, we got the play equipment renewed and from 2005 to 2018 ran monthly activities to make the playground a more attractive and welcoming place. It was pretty low-key but I think we made a difference and we certainly had lots of fun!

Regrettably, I and other long-standing committee members need to stand down now. We’ve been trying to find new people to take over but without success. However! Your 2 new Town Councillors Graham and Luke would love to start a new chapter. Failing that, we’ll do our best to look after the playground.

Whatever happens, all current committee members – Roy Macleod, Vikki Thomas, Joy Sangster, Helene and James Bishop, Pete Chen, Claudia Moore, Jon Orrell, Seth Why and I – give a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our project over the years but, most of all, the kids who have helped out and joined in and made it all so worthwhile. We look forward to seeing you on the 28th!”
