Equality Council (Dorset REC) is a
registered charity (No: 1104642) and a company limited by guarantee
(No: 5018604). We are an independent and impartial membership body.

- We inform
and educate regarding race/ethnic relations.
- Eliminate
and counter misunderstanding and negative political propaganda.
- Raise
awareness of race/ethnic equality issues with both public sector
organisations and
private businesses.
- Challenge
prejudice and disadvantage and promote the importance of a diverse
society.
- Inform
minority ethnic individuals of their rights.
- Strengthen
community relations in Dorset.
- Work with
partner organisations to influence policy and combat racial
discrimination and racial violence.
- Uphold both
the letter and the spirit of UK and EU law.
Dorset REC
is explicit about tackling racial
discrimination and our support for race equality.
We take a lead in the
community in Dorset in the following areas:
- Dealing
with racial discrimination.
- Supporting
victims of racial discrimination.
- Promoting
good relations between persons of different racial groups.
- Gathering
and monitoring racial incidence data in partnership with other agencies.
- Offer
training to various organisation.
- Perform
research projects for outside agencies concerning race/ethnic issues.
- Our
mission is:
- To
eliminate racial discrimination and
promote shared values of peace, responsibility and racial harmony.
- To
reduce racial conflict, increase
confidence and self worth amongst the diverse communities of Dorset.
- To
give support to the victims of
racial
discrimination and take measures to ensure perpetrators are dealt with
accordingly.
