Welcome to
the Advocacy
& Casework Service
for Dorset.
Dorset Race Equality
Council is pleased to
announce that it is
working in partnership
with all Dorset
Councils in providing
an advocacy service
for minority ethnic
individuals. We are
here to help anyone
who feels that they
have received a poor
service or have been
treated differently
because of their race,
religion, faith or
belief. We also help
those who have been
victims of abuse,
harassment or violence
(Hate Crimes).
The advocate remains
independent from all
local statutory
bodies, but has strong
links and partnerships
within them to be able
to resolve any issues.
We can liaise with
public institutions,
employers, schools and
housing providers to
discuss and settle any
issues that might be
challenging or
difficult.
How can we
help?
We are here to help
anyone who feels that
they have received a
poor service or been
treated differently
because of their race,
ethnicity, faith or
belief. We also help
those who have been a
victim of abuse,
harassment or violence
(Hate Crimes) in their
everyday lives.
The advocate will help
to guide and support
the client as we work
in partnership to
resolve these issues.
We always discuss a
course of action with
the client and act in
the best interests for
that client at all
times. It is up to the
client to determine
how far we go with any
case.
Does it make
a difference?
YES! Throughout our
history as a charity
specialising in
casework, we have
helped numerous
individuals. We have
helped victims of
racist hate crime; got
individuals reinstated
in their jobs and
stopped racist
bullying in schools
and the workplace. We
cannot guarantee a
positive outcome for
every individual but
we will do our upmost.
Confidentiality
& Respect
Dorset Race Equality
Council and its staff
are dedicated to
ensuring that we
foster an environment
of confidentiality and
respect with all our
clients. We will
always advocate on
their behalf in the
strictest of
confidence and will
not approach any third
parties without
explicit consent. The
advocate will always
discuss a course of
action with each
client and act in the
best interests for
that client at all
times.
When we act on your
behalf, we keep all
your personal details
in a secure
environment, with
limited access. We
will never pass your
information onto a
third party.
