LOUISA ADJOA PARKER

Poet available for workshops, writing residencies, and projects

Louisa can work with participants to explore her own and others’ poetry, and support them to write their own poems. This can be during workshops, or longer residencies/projects leading to publication or performance. She enjoys collaborating with other artists and is interested in producing work that combines words with images, dance and other art forms.

Louisa’s collection ‘Salt-sweat and Tears’ explores her childhood and later experiences inthe West-country, as well as themes of belonging, home, family, relationships and landscape. Critically acclaimed by the likes of Linton Kwesi Johnson and Selima Hill, her work is described as ‘raw’ and ‘honest’. Her accessible style appeals to readers from all backgrounds. She has had work published in a range of publications and online, and performed at venues including the Bridport Prize Live, and Exeter Respect festival.

What organisations have said:

Year 6 children were enthused when working with a 'real writer’. They were able to share their ideas openly due to the way in which she was happy to share her own very personal memories with children, who were inspired to create their own poems following a distinct theme. These poems became part of a class book which will be shared with others as they progress through the school. A very enjoyable and rewarding experience.’ Nicholas Kiddle, St Michael’s Primary, Lyme Regis

Thank you so much! The children (and us adults) got so much out of the day. Your poetry is beautiful and it inspired the children to write some of the best poetry I’ve seen them produce.....Your openness enabled them to be open too.
